International Conference on Science, Ethics and Human Development
Within the framework of the 18th "Meet Vietnam" program, 2022 in Binh Dinh, September 13, the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee, Ministry of Science and Technology Science and Technology, French Institute for Research and Development Vietnam branch (IRD Vietnam) in collaboration with Science and Education Organization "Meet Vietnam" (Rencontres du Vietnam), International Center for Science and Education interdisciplinary education (ICISE Center) organize Conference Science, Ethics and Human Development.
Attending the seminar were comrades: Nguyen Xuan Thang - Politburo member, Director of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council; Nguyen Manh Hung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Information and Communications; Deputy Ministers of Information and Communications: Phan Tam, Pham Duc Long, Nguyen Thanh Lam; Ha Kim Ngoc - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

This is the third conference within the framework of the "Meet Vietnam" program organized by the Science and Education Organization Meet Vietnam and is also a special event in the series of activities of the Government of Vietnam. directly under the Ministry of Science and Technology, in response to the International Year of Basic Science for Sustainable Development 2022 launched by the United Nations General Assembly. This 2022 conference will go deeper with discussions on the role of basic science and applied science in the sustainable development of society, in which ethics and human development will be stressed.

Opening remarks at the Conference, Prof. Jean Tran Thanh Van - President of the Science Association Meet Vietnam shared that this is an event marking a very special year, the international year of basic science for sustainable development. The workshop was recognized by UNESCO as a continental event in Asia in response to the International Year of Basic Science for Sustainable Development by the Project Chairing Council of the International Year of Basic Science for Sustainable Development. Sustainable development was approved by the United Nations in December 2021 and UNESCO held its official announcement on July 8, 2022.

He emphasized that after 35 years of Doi Moi, from a poor, backward, low-income country, Vietnam has become a developing, middle-income country. Stable and inclusive growth has benefited the vast majority of people, contributing to a significant improvement in all areas of society. It is the result of implementing throughout the strategy of rapid, inclusive and sustainable development; of the view that people are the goal and the driving force of development; the people are the subject of Doi Moi, the center of the cause of national construction and development; economic development goes hand in hand with ensuring progress, social justice, and environmental protection in every step, every policy and throughout the development process; and especially, there is an important contribution of the consistent implementation of the idea that science and technology development, education and training, and human development are the "top national policy", the shortest path and most economical way to develop quickly, sustainably and modernize the country. Vietnam's Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation Development to 2030 sets out the overarching goal: Science, technology and innovation will develop steadily, truly becoming a growth engine, contributing to the decision to turn Vietnam into a developing country with modern industry, high middle income; contributing to comprehensive human development, ensuring national defense and security, environmental protection and sustainable development, enhancing Vietnam's international position and prestige.
